Robert D. “Robby” Robbins is the First Congressional District Commissioner and immediate past Chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission. Robby was originally appointed March of 2016 to a four-year term and was just appointed by Governor McMaster to a second, four year term.

Prior to serving on the Commission, Robby was a member of the Dorchester County Sales Tax Transportation Authority for ten years and has served as a board member on the Charleston Area Transportation Study Committee, commonly known as CHATS, for the past ten years.

Robby is a criminal and civil litigation attorney with the law firm of Thurmond Kirchner and Timbes. He practices at 814-A North Cedar Street in Summerville. Robby has been married to Mary Bryce Robbins for the past 28 years. They have two children, Bryce who is a third year medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina and Lena, who is a senior at Anderson University.
