Mary Howell serves as Water Mission‘s Senior Manager of Community Engagement. Mary brings more than 25 years of professional experience in the private and nonprofit sectors to her role at Water Mission. Her diverse career experiences include successfully building A cybersecurity tech start-up and city management for in New Jersey, prior to joining Water Mission in 2021.

Mary and her family have lived in Charleston for eleven years. At Water Mission, Mary’s focus is on community outreach across the Lowcountry, sharing the urgent need to end the global water crisis, where almost one out of every three people in the world do not have access to clean, safe water. She helps to raise awareness of the problem, provide hope through Water Mission’s solutions, and present a variety of ways our community can get involved and save lives. Mary leads Water Mission’s annual Walk for Water every spring at Riverfront Park. This event has become a local staple each March attracting thousands of Charlestonians who rally together for this important cause.
