We have very good news on our fight against the Wild Polio Virus (WPV). Since January 1, 2021 we have had:
- 1 WPV case in Afghanistan
- 1 WPV case in Pakistan
- 2 cases total in the world compared to 61 cases at this time last year!
Circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV) cases are also down this year… 101 cases compared to 135 at this time last year. A new vaccine (nOPV2) was introduced in March, 2021 which targets the spread of the cVDPV… specifically Type 2, which represents almost all the cVDPV cases.
July 1 starts the “Run with Bernie” Polio Challenge!!!
Our Goals are to:
- Raise $’s and Awareness for our Fight Against Polio
- Achieve Your Club Polio Goal (with help from Non-Rotarians)
- Have Fun
- And just maybe get a bit Healthier!
If you Walk/Run/Bike/Swim/Row on a regular basis … You Qualify! If you want to start doing any of those activities… You Qualify!
We currently have 58 participants representing 26 Rotary Clubs, but would like to have many more.
