Steps of the South Carolina State House
World Polio Day is Saturday, October 24—a day when Rotarians around the world come together to celebrate our progress and raise awareness of Rotary’s commitment to End Polio Now.
This year, we will celebrate World Polio Day together on Friday, October 23, on the steps of the South Carolina State House.

Please join Mayor Rickenmann, Dr. Anne Matthews, fellow Rotarians, and friends as we celebrate Rotary’s commitment and the incredible work that has brought us so close to a polio-free world. We are also hopeful that Congressman Joe Wilson will be able to join us.
Congressman Wilson and Dr. Matthews have been tireless advocates for this effort. Over the years, they have worked to raise awareness and secure the resources needed to move us closer to a world without polio. Their support and advocacy have truly made a difference.
We are so close—but we are not finished.
While the numbers are down, wild polio is still being reported, with 35 cases in Afghanistan and 4 cases in Pakistan this year. Every case represents a child who could be permanently affected by this preventable disease.
That is why we need to keep speaking up, keep raising awareness, and keep our promise to the children of the world.
Please join us from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the steps of the State House.
Wear RED or your End Polio Now shirt, bring your Rotary spirit, and let’s make a BIG statement on the Steps of the State House!
Together, we can End Polio Now.
