TOPIC: Supporting those Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Sara Perry is Executive Director of Respite Care Charleston, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which provides support and services to those living with Alzheimer’s and related forms of dementia.
A graduate of Winthrop University (Marketing Communications) and the College of Charleston (Master of Public Administration), Sara has more than 18 years of experience in the non-profit/public sector. She has completed the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management and the Charleston Metro Chamber’s Leadership Charleston program and was named one of one of the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” in 2016.
Sara’s passion for supporting those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia began with experiences with her maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother. A proud mother of two active teenagers, Sara mentors several older youth in foster care and is an avid sailor.
Dr. John Kleckley is a geriatric medicine specialist in Mount Pleasant, SC, with over 17 years of experience in geriatric medicine. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he did his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine.
He is specially trained to care for older patients with a focus on disease prevention, dementia diagnosis and management, chronic disease management and maintenance of quality of life.
He’s affiliated with many hospitals, including East Cooper Medical Center, Roper St. Francis, and Trident Medical Center, and consults with many other physician practices in the area.
