Rachel Haynie, Event Manager

Rachel Haynie is a graduate from the College of Charleston with joint degrees in Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management. She joined LOWELO in 2021, having been in the event management industry for over 15 years working as an Assistant Race Director with the Cooper River Bridge Run. She has also worked with other well-known events in Charleston including the Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble, the IOP Connector Run and The Charleston Marathon. Rachel also holds a position on the board of directors for the Kelso Bishop Family Foundation.

Rachel is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and has called Charleston home for 17 years. She lives in West Ashley with her husband, Ashton, and her two sons, Bryce (2) and Wyatt (8 months). Rachel enjoys spending time with her family including participating in family-friendly community events, boating, horseback riding and baking.

Dr. John O’Bryan

Dr. O’Bryan received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then pursued postdoctoral studies with Drs. Tony Pawson at the Samuel Lunenfeld Institute in Toronto, Canada and Channing Der at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. O’Bryan then established his independent research program at the National Institute of Environmental Health Science, NIH in Research Triangle Park before being recruited to the University of Illinois at Chicago.

In 2018, he was recruited to the NCI-Designated Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC where he is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. In addition, Dr. O’Bryan has a joint appointment as a Research Health Scientist at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
